WhatsApp announced a major change in user identification format, from JID (Jabber ID) to LID (Linked ID). Understand what's changing and how to prepare.
Important: This change affects all integrations with the WhatsApp Business API. If you use a platform like FunnelOps, you don't have to worry, we're ready.
What is JID and LID?
JID (Jabber ID): Old identification format based on the user's telephone number (e.g.: 5511999999999@s.whatsapp.net).
ID (Linked ID): New format that untangles the identification of the phone number, offering greater privacy and flexibility.
Why the change?
- Greater privacy: Phone numbers are more secure
- Flexibility: Users can change number without losing their history
- Safety: Reduces the risk of data exposure
What to do?
If you use FunnelOps, you don't need to do anything. Our platform has already been updated to handle both formats in a transparent way.
For developers who maintain their own integrations, we recommend reviewing the code to ensure compatibility with the new LID format.
